Blurbl is operated by Joshua Young, an individual sole proprietor. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who we share it with. We do not sell your personal information, and Blurbl contains no advertising.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address | To create your account, sign you in, and send account emails such as confirmation and password reset. |
| Username | Shown in your profile inside the app. |
| Reading progress and favourites | So you can resume a book and keep a list of saved titles across devices. |
| Subscription status | To unlock Blurbl Plus content and keep your access in sync. |
| Diagnostic data | Basic crash and error information used to fix problems. |
We do not collect your contacts, location, photos, or device advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Subscriptions are purchased through Apple. We never see or store your payment card details. Purchase and renewal status is provided to us through RevenueCat, Inc., which processes an anonymous app user ID together with transaction and subscription information on our behalf so we know whether your subscription is active.
These providers process data only to deliver the service and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Blurbl’s books are prepared in advance, before the app ships. Converting a public-domain book into chat format involves sending that book’s text — which is already public — to the Anthropic API. This happens on our own systems as part of building the catalogue. Nothing you type, read or do inside the app is sent to an AI service, and your personal data is never used to train any model.
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app, which removes your profile, reading progress and favourites from our database. Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription — cancel that in your Apple ID Account Settings. Backups are purged on a rolling basis within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Account deletion is available directly in the app; for anything else, email us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.
Blurbl is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our providers, and access is restricted to what is needed to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email, and the “last updated” date above will change.
